The Rotary Club of Jacksonville is dedicating a new pavilion and weigh-in station on the shore of Lake Jacksonville on October 2, 2026 at 1:30 pm. The public is welcome to attend.

The pavilion, known as ‘The Rotary Club of Jacksonville Lape Pavilion,’ serves as a permanent venue for fishing tournaments, educational events, fundraisers, and community gatherings. The facility features covered seating and tables, creating a functional space for year-round use. It will host The Rotary Club of Jacksonville’s annual fishing tournament—now in its 27th year—which raises scholarship funds and supports community projects, and it will also be available to other nonprofits for their annual events.

The pavilion is named in honor of Keith Lape, a long-time Rotarian, who inaugurated and organized the local Rotary Bass Tournament for many years. Additionally, Lape served as District Governor of Rotary District 6460 in 2005-2006. He has also served as Foundation Chair of the District and chaired many Rotary International Foundation committees. Lape has traveled twice to Mexico with the Rotary Heart of America delegations to observe grants sponsored by Rotary and to help select grant recipients for future years. Lape and his wife Phyllis, who is also an active Rotarian, have attended many Rotary International Conventions throughout the world.

The pavilion was paid with funds from the Jacksonville Rotary Club Foundation, Rotary District 6460 grant, in-kind contributions, and city support for utilities and furnishings.

Craig Albers, 2026-27 Rotary President stated, “This one-time investment will strengthen Rotary’s presence in Jacksonville and provide a versatile asset for countless organizations and residents for decades to come. We are proud to name it in honor of Keith Lape, to remind us all to be agents of positive change in our community and world.”

The pavilion is located at 2193 New Lake Rd in Jacksonville, near the boat launch and concession stand.
