The Rotary Club of Jacksonville proudly announces its annual Oktoberfest celebration, which will take place at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Saturday, September 17, from noon to 7:00 p.m.
The event will kick off with a traditional Wilkommen (welcome) ceremony and Tapping of the Kegs.
The rest of the day will be jam-packed with entertainment. Enjoy live music provided by Tony Blazonczyk’s New Phase and the Hot Town Trio. Games, activities and contests will occur throughout the day, including a bags tournament, a keg toss contest, stein endurance (AKA mug-holding) contest, dachshund dash, and pet parade.
Local brewers will offer tastings of home brew beer. A variety of German beers and wines will be available by the glass (or stein). The traditional German meal of brats, “secret recipe” sauerkraut and potatoes will be served, along with other traditional German fare.
Tickets ($4.00 in advance or $5.00 at the gate) are available from any Rotarian, or at County Market in Jacksonville. Follow our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/jaxrotary) for updates and additional information.
