Applications are now being accepted for Scholarships funded by the Rotary Club of Jacksonville.
The Rotary Club of Jacksonville offers two scholarship programs. Category 1 is the Rotary Club of Jacksonville Senior Scholarship for college-bound students. This scholarship is a one-time award of $2,000. To be eligible, an applicant MUST be a resident and senior attending a school within the legally defined boundaries of the Jacksonville, IL School District 117, expecting to graduate in May-June of 2026. Recipients cannot be the child of a current Rotarian.
Category 2 is the SSG Matthew Weikert Scholarship. Staff Sergeant Weikert was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. He was known for his leadership and his attitude of service above self. He served several tours of duty in Iraq and in Afghanistan where he gave his life for his country and our freedom. This one-time, $1,000 scholarship is awarded in his honor. Eligible applicants are seniors or recent graduates who will be attending vocational school, technical school, or community college. Those planning to attend a four-year institution are not eligible for this scholarship. To be considered for this award a student must be a resident of Cass, Greene, Morgan, or Scott counties; must be a current senior expecting to graduate in May-June 2026, or a recent graduate of ANY school within the counties listed above; and cannot be the child of a current Rotarian.
Both scholarships will be paid directly to the student’s selected school of higher learning on behalf of the student. The scholarship may be used toward tuition and fees.
The Rotary Club of Jacksonville encourages all eligible students to apply to help support their academic careers. More information and application forms can be found on the website: https://jacksonvillerotary.org/scholarships/.
