Jacksonville, IL, February 22, 2018: The Jacksonville Rotary Club recently partnered with District 117 and the Jacksonville Schools Foundation to renovate the special needs classroom at Eisenhower School, and to purchase and install new equipment to serve the students who receive instruction in the classroom.

The Jacksonville Rotary Club received a $2,000 grant from Rotary District 6460, and provided $2,000 in local matching funds in support of the project. Jacksonville Rotary Club President-elect Daphne Spradlin said, “This project was designed to purchase new equipment so that the teachers have the educational tools they need to serve the students’ special needs. We were delighted when the District offered to purchase paint and carpeting to fully renovate the classroom.”

“We had great support from Rotary Club members and the educators and staff of District 117 and the Jacksonville Schools Foundation. We worked as a team to clear out and paint the room before Christmas, so the District could install the carpeting over the holidays. Then we got back together to reassemble the room and install the new equipment after the carpeting was in place. We hope the students will really benefit from this enhanced learning environment.”
