Deadline for Rotary District 6460 Scholarships is May 15

The May 15 deadline to apply for Rotary District 6460 academic scholarships is fast approaching. According to Scholarship Chair Kris Rosentreter of Carlinville, two types of scholarships are available to students who live in, attend school in, or graduated from a school in Rotary District 6460. This Rotary District encompasses an area roughly bounded by Quincy, Galesburg, Peoria, Springfield and the Illinois side of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The District’s 2017-18 Domestic Scholarship of $3,000 requires the applicant to complete 24 hours of college credit prior to applying. This scholarship is for students majoring in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus, which include disease prevention and treatment, education and economic development. For full eligibility guidelines and application instructions, view the application at: http://bit.ly/2lMfqa2.

The District also offers an $18,000 William J. Menghini Rotary District 6460 International Ambassadorial Scholarship for students who have completed at least 48 credit hours of college. This scholarship requires the student to apply directly to an international university and be accepted there. For complete details about this scholarship, view the application at: http://bit.ly/2n3EgmM, and view the brochure at: http://bit.ly/2lQ70iD. This scholarship may not begin before September 2018, but should begin before September 2019.

Rotarians and their relatives are not eligible to apply for either scholarship.
