Rotary Wraps Gifts for Military

On October 18, the Jacksonville Rotary Club and Jacksonville Interact Club participated with the Franklin Waverly Military Support Group and a Franklin Girl Scout troop in the first of two sessions in which we are preparing holiday boxes for 83 active service members. The boxes include a tiny holiday tree, batteries, pillow cases, socks, snacks, books, and a ball to give to a child where the personnel are stationed.

Our president-elect Ginny Fanning wrote a grant application to the Rotary District 6460 grant program, which is providing $2,000 toward this project. The partnering organizations are providing the balance of the labor and investment required to complete the packages. Thanks to everyone who turned out to help – we will be packing the boxes on November 8 so they are in the recipients’ hands for the holidays! Thank you to the Franklin United Methodist Church for providing a space to prepare the boxes!
